I just published another Florida focused web site. This isn’t tightly focused on St. Petersburg but instead on the general FL market. And yes, to a search engine, FL is different than Florida, but their getting lots better. In fact if you search for most terms using FL, instead of Florida, just about everything you get will have the word Florida bolded in the descriptions and the url’s as well as the rare instances of the “word” FL. It’s good that that the SE’s are catching on more and more to the way people write and search. I’m guessing the competition from Bing has had a lot of influence on a lot of the fixes to long time flaws Google has made recently. Including the one where incoming links aren’t so important anymore and the words on the page are more important.
Anyway the new web site is targeting the Fl Fishing market, and it’s a tough one. We’ll see how that goes as I don’t really have the time to put into this right now. After all it’s just a hobby site. The secondary market is Florida Fishing Videos, which still has some tough competition. This site has been something I’ve been kicking around in the back of my head for a while. the end goal is to have a video web (like youtube.com) except focused on people who want to start their own Fishing shows on TV. Thus the .tv domain name . . .Like most of my bigger internet projects, I’ll be rolling this one out in phases, that way it can do some work while the longer , more resource intensive full version is being made. This particular project will probably be in three phases, the frst is up now. I’ll be adding posts, pages and videos slowly. The second phase will be a video CMS. It will not allow people to directly upload their videos. Why? Hosting video is expensive that’s why. I love fishing but I’m not going to shell out thousands a month for the bandwidth to host my own videos. At least not till there’s enough traffic/sponsors/business arrangements, etc. to make a profit. If that day comes, the it’ll be Phase 3.
Phase 3 will enable users to upload videos, straight from their camera if they prefer, onto the web site skipping the whole youtube thing. This will bring in unique content and tons of IBL‘s making the site have a huge search engine presence and thus make the bandwidth go through the roof. This is why I don’t want to do phase 3 unless there is money coming in from some where.

Have u considered partnering with any of the outdoor living tv stations. You might even consider selling the design to on of these companies. Best of luck on the project!
great post!! keep them coming!.
I have a 1 1/2″ rapala original floating. I have a 7′ light action rod and a Abu garcia 101 spinning reel with 4lb mono spooled on it. I cant cast this lure. Is my tackle still too heavy? what to you recommend?
I would appreciate more visual materials, to make your blog more attractive, but your writing style really compensates it. But there is always place for improvement
